1st state of Jan Jansson’s “carte à figures”

“Bohemia in suas partes geographicé distincta”. Engraved map with decorative borders on three sides, published by Joannes Janssonius, Amsterdam “1620”. The map was engraved after Egidius Sadeler by Pieter van den Keere, who signed as engraver in the title cartouche. The top border is composed of oval general views of “Praga”, “Egra”, “Zaslavia”, “Commona”, “Launa” and “Slana”. The left and right borders show male and female figures of different social classes in their contemporary dress. (PM)  47, 5 x 56, 4.

First state of this important map of Bohemia with decorative borders by Pieter van den Keere. Verso no text. Schilder, vol. VI, map 41.1 (1st state of 6). – Fine and dark impression on laid paper with at least small original margins at all sides (top margin narrow). Some restoration mainly to margins, minor other imperfections. A scarce decorative map in its first state.
