Rare and interesting playing card map

“Africa”. Map of the continent with Madagascar. At right hand border (or at top) a depiction of an Arabian (?) horse in the desert. Playing card to play the Florentine version of the tarot play, the “Minchiate”, designed by Augusto da Rabatta and Jean-Bapt. de Baillou. Engraving with original colour by Aniello Lamberti from his “Nuovo Atlante Generale Metodico, ed Elementare Tascabile”, Florence 1779. 9, 8 x 5, 5 cm.

Extremely rare playing card map. – Strong impression, the contemporary colour freshly preserved. Cut to or slightly outside platemark. Laid down on thin writing paper and mask-framed in cut-out laid paper with ample margins, mounted in the 18th century. Slight staining in mask-margin only.
