Nr. 991: Asiae.. delineatio
"Asiae in Tabula Geographica Delineatio ad mentem Novissimorum.. Geographorum emendata..". The continent of Asia cartographically updated with new discoveries in the East. Engraved double-page map in original wash and outline colour after Adam Friedrich Zürner, published by Pieter Schenk, Amsterdam c. 1700/10. (PM) 50,5 x 59 cm.
An interesting updated map of the continent. Nova Britannia, an island separately adjacent from New Guinea, is shown with an inscription saying that it was discovered by Dampier in 1700. The island of Hokkaido is now fully shown, even with much guessing. The uncoloured title cartouche showing Arab merchants negotiating is additionally adorned by a lion and 2 panthers. - Very good impression and unfaded colour. Original margins. A small split in lower centerfold backed.
