“America Settentrionale”. At top of the card a half page map of North and Central America with the West Indies, at bottom an extensive engraved geographical key and a circular depiction of a “tiara”. Playing card to play the Florentine version of the tarot play, the “Minchiate”, designed by Augusto da Rabatta and Jean-Bapt. de Baillou. Engraving with original colour by Aniello Lamberti from his “Nuovo Atlante Generale Metodico, ed Elementare Tascabile”, Florence 1779. 9, 7 x 5, 5 cm.
Extremely rare playing card map. Trump II of the set. – Strong impression, the contemporary colour freshly preserved. Cut to or slightly outside platemark. Laid down on thin writing paper and mask-framed in cut-out laid paper with ample margins, mounted in the 18th century. Faint staining in mask-margin only.
